Christmas Altaholism: Temi’s Adventures in Northrend

So I sort of fell behind on my Altaholism posts, and I thought I’d talk about one of my actual eighties.

In a vague effort to embrace my inner DPSer I’ve been trying to get on top of things like buff food and elixirs, which means that I’ve been trying to get Temi to the stage where she can cook food that might give her some actual bonuses to her Attack Power.

This means I’ve been running around Northrend doing, well, stuff.

Hanging around in the Argent Tournament I saw the following:

Seriously. What the fuck.

Okay. So there’s this human guy kneeling down in front of this Night Elf. And they’re both naked. And it’s an embroidery. And it’s hanging up outside the Jewelcrafting trainer in the Argent Colosseum. I mean seriously – there’s this Drenai jewelcrafter, and he’s got embroidered Night Elf porn hanging up outside his shop.

I mean for reals guys, is this some kind of lore scene that I’ve missed out on. Is there a sequence where Arthas goes down on Illidian Stormrage before mounting the frozen throne?

So anyway, I was leveling cooking. I’ve kind of decided to take a break from fishing – it takes a long time and it doesn’t feel very deathknightly or very Orcish. I’m a mighty warrior of the Horde dagnammit, I’m not sitting in Tirisfal glades pulling up Longjaw Mudsnappers. On the other hand I do kind of dig hunting wild animals for their meat. The Dwarvish Gentlemen’s Club really needs to get its arse in gear because I really want to go mammoth hunting in Northrend. Because mammoth hunting in northrend is amazing fun.

All the Mamoths you can eat!

I recently dual-specced Unholy for the AoE potential. My new favourite hobby is to go down to the Valley of Ancient Winters and drop Death and Decay on one of the roaming herbs of mammoth. There’s just something really cool about seeing a whole stack of mammoth collapsing into a pile on the floor. Of course technically that makes them diseased mammoths, and I’m not sure diseased mammoth meat is that tempting but hey, this is World of Warcraft, and people drink pungent seal whey. Diseased Mammoth Meat isn’t much of a step down.

So anyway, I was wandering around Northrend, and I discovered Loken’s Bargain.

I’d never seen this bit of the Storm Peaks before, I was just flying around and I found this hole in a mountain:

I say! Whatever could be down this hole!

It’s possible that there’s a quest I missed that sends you here, but I don’t know what it is. There’s just this hole in the side of a mountain which leads into a big tunnel full of golems and machinery.

It was actually really cool:

Seriously, this is cool

The really interesting thing is that I have no idea at all what this is doing here, it’s just this random bit of detail in the side of a mountain. It’s one of the things I like the most about WoW: every so often you just stumble across something cool and unexpected. I really like the whole Titans/Uldum/Uldaman/Ulduar (seriously what’s the deal with the Ulds) plotlines, I like the technomagic, the huge rune-inscribed machines. It’s the little details like Loken’s Bargain that remind me just how much cool stuff there is in the game just lying around to be discovered.

So, yeah. That’s Temi’s adventures in Northrend. Merry Christmas dudes.
