So I sort of fell behind on my Altaholism posts, and I thought I’d talk about one of my actual eighties.
In a vague effort to embrace my inner DPSer I’ve been trying to get on top of things like buff food and elixirs, which means that I’ve been trying to get Temi to the stage where she can cook food that might give her some actual bonuses to her Attack Power.
This means I’ve been running around Northrend doing, well, stuff.
Hanging around in the Argent Tournament I saw the following:
Okay. So there’s this human guy kneeling down in front of this Night Elf. And they’re both naked. And it’s an embroidery. And it’s hanging up outside the Jewelcrafting trainer in the Argent Colosseum. I mean seriously – there’s this Drenai jewelcrafter, and he’s got embroidered Night Elf porn hanging up outside his shop.
I mean for reals guys, is this some kind of lore scene that I’ve missed out on. Is there a sequence where Arthas goes down on Illidian Stormrage before mounting the frozen throne?
So anyway, I was leveling cooking. I’ve kind of decided to take a break from fishing – it takes a long time and it doesn’t feel very deathknightly or very Orcish. I’m a mighty warrior of the Horde dagnammit, I’m not sitting in Tirisfal glades pulling up Longjaw Mudsnappers. On the other hand I do kind of dig hunting wild animals for their meat. The Dwarvish Gentlemen’s Club really needs to get its arse in gear because I really want to go mammoth hunting in Northrend. Because mammoth hunting in northrend is amazing fun.
I recently dual-specced Unholy for the AoE potential. My new favourite hobby is to go down to the Valley of Ancient Winters and drop Death and Decay on one of the roaming herbs of mammoth. There’s just something really cool about seeing a whole stack of mammoth collapsing into a pile on the floor. Of course technically that makes them diseased mammoths, and I’m not sure diseased mammoth meat is that tempting but hey, this is World of Warcraft, and people drink pungent seal whey. Diseased Mammoth Meat isn’t much of a step down.
So anyway, I was wandering around Northrend, and I discovered Loken’s Bargain.
I’d never seen this bit of the Storm Peaks before, I was just flying around and I found this hole in a mountain:
It’s possible that there’s a quest I missed that sends you here, but I don’t know what it is. There’s just this hole in the side of a mountain which leads into a big tunnel full of golems and machinery.
It was actually really cool:
The really interesting thing is that I have no idea at all what this is doing here, it’s just this random bit of detail in the side of a mountain. It’s one of the things I like the most about WoW: every so often you just stumble across something cool and unexpected. I really like the whole Titans/Uldum/Uldaman/Ulduar (seriously what’s the deal with the Ulds) plotlines, I like the technomagic, the huge rune-inscribed machines. It’s the little details like Loken’s Bargain that remind me just how much cool stuff there is in the game just lying around to be discovered.
So, yeah. That’s Temi’s adventures in Northrend. Merry Christmas dudes.

If you liked Loken's Bargain, go looking for Uldis. Same zone.
(And it looks to me like that human is wearing pants. I definitely see the ends of pantlegs. And Illidan was a male nelf, and that one is most certainly female; we could pretend it's Tyrande Whisperwind if you'd like. Political porn!)
I should go and explore Storm Peaks properly, it's got lots of cool mechanical gubbins in it.
I'm not convinced the other elf is female though…

Yay, I missed your altoholism posts!
I think the "night elf porn" is meant to be a jewellery advertisment. And the guy is proposing to the night elf girl with a diamond ring or something. Though I'll admit that the silhouettes appearing to be naked makes the whole thing look more than a little dodgy.
I can only concur about the mammoth killing fun. I love it when I get the jewelcrafting daily that requires ivory on my paladin…
Loken's Bargain is indeed part of a quest chain, I don't remember which one though.

What I find weirdest about the whole thing is the fact that it's *embroidered*. Somebody said "no, a painting would look silly, let's have an *embroidery*"

I believe the Brann Bronzebeard chain in Storm Peaks eventually leads you to Loken's Bargain. It's either that or the quest chain with the Stone Dwarves in the NW part of the zone.

Tsk, tsk, you got a dirty mind
As posted before the man is wearing some trousers… or at least a pair of pirate-style boots
About Loken's Bargain you haven't missed much. I think there's a quest to do inside, but did it long time ago and on Alliance. Other than that seems the typical Blizz attitude when creating zones: they fill it with things and half of them aren't fully developed, so if at anytime they add some continuity to the questline you have already forgotten that bit or you have zero interest to go back to that zone to do quests *rolleyes*
Ans most of the paintings hanging on the wall are somewhat wtf, just take a look in zones like Scarlet Monastery.
Apparently there was a post at WoW.com a little while ago about plans for Wrath that never made it – like Lore in Crystalsong and a questing zone in Azjol Nerub.

That’s how you spend your time? Killing mammoths and looking at nelfer porn?
On a more serious note. You really need to see the whole of Ulduar soon.
Yeah, wasn't there a plan to get a guild run up there some time this week?

The man is very obviously wearing pants and proposing to the nelf.
Dirty, dirty orc!
I still think the nelf is a dude…

I tend to agree – there are a lot of odd things hanging around in Storm Peaks (and probably many other areas too). Loken's Bargain is actually part of some quest (as said before), and while the quest sending you there is sort of short, the complete quest line was rather ok. I am somewhat surprised you did not hit that one. I think (wait, i should'nt think and remember) it is on the same line which has you free Hodir.
And as Erc said – we do need to take a trip into Ulduar – ALL corners.. sometime soon.

I love Storm Peaks (despite the snow) and the titan architecture. I liked the quest where you went down in the gigantic hole in the ground (I think it's called engine of the maker?) and helped a dwarf to fly out of there.

I didn't do that either. I left the Storm Peaks largely empty. I think it was the fact that I didn't have Epic Flying so getting around the place took freaking *ages* on pre-3.whatever mounts.

Actually, there is a quest which leads you through that hole in the mountain. It's something to do with an orb you need for the stone dwarves (or whatever they're called) who are centered around the western area of the Storm Peaks.
Sorry, I can't remember the quest, but there is one for it!
Yeah…..a dense moment, but the first thing I saw was the stupid ass jade tiger.
